Found a plug just under the steering wheel and wonder if it might be to plug a cruise control into. Vehicle is a 2003 Ducato 2.8 JTD. Anyone any ideas?
It seems that I can't put the picture in here as I have not yet posted 5 times.

Don't think it is that Peter. There is an OBD2 socket behind a little panel at the bottom, but this plug is inside the steering column. I have put a picture on this site but cannot link it to a post.

OK, I have identified the plug as D018 which is in the wiring diagrams as a cruise control coupling. I would assume then that my Ducato has the wiring needed to fit a factory system, rather than an after market one.
Has anyone else done this?

Unfortunately the diagnostic socket is not OBD2. It is an earlier version and requires special software (mentioned in other posts) to be used.

If you can find out more about this 'cruise control' socket I would be very interested too (y)

I had read that thread Corkman, but really wanted to see if I was able to use a factory fit unit rather than an after market one. This is (a poor) picture of the plug in question.
