Hi guys I have my little 500 for just over a month now and I have cleaned the car more or less every weekend, but I have started to notice these little areas where they look dirty, and then when i run my finger over them, they feel different to the rest of the paint - not as smooth and kind of squeak a bit.

I will take photos later, but i just wondered if anyone knew what it was.

Also whilst on this subject what do you guys use to get rid of stubborn marks, ie after i have done my first foam wash - i can still see some marks, but i don't want to just use T Cut ?

Thanks guys.

Could it be salt attack? Do you wash the car, then wax and seal it? What do you wash it with, sponge or fibre mit? Do you use the 2 bucket system or jet-wash? Sounds like a clay bar might help but wait for the Detailing experts opinions.

are these on the edge of the doors? i know tris's GP had patches of rough paint which were the door security tape seals..

he also had a large patch on the corner on the roof where there must have been some sticker on it...

wouldn't go for t-cut first try a drop of wd-40 and cloth to see if it is adhesive residue (dont rub too hard as there will be grit stuck in it if it is)

if it's not sticker residue then it sounds like overspray, which would raise some questions on a brand new car.

do the patches end in a sharp line or does it belnd into the rest of the paintwork

Hi guys thanks for your responses. It actually turned to be some kind of sticky residue.. ? I can rub it off with a bit of water. Never noticed when i was cleaning it, its almost like its 'picked' up the dirt after a week.

Next time i clean the car, what would be the best method to get this stuff off?, again without T cutting... I usually just rinse the car with water, then shampoo it with a mit and then hose again and then dry...

Can you guys recommend any kind of stubborn mark cleaner for cars ?

Any input would be much appreciated.
