Technical Strange noise when braking

hey guys,

I have this weird problem that has just started to present its self.

Its only done it 3 or 4 times now and on the same piece of road in the same journey.

Basically I drive for about 14 miles of 60mph roads with roundabouts along the way.

I then get to this one roundabout which has a down hill ascent to it, I brake firmly and slow down from 60 or 70 to about 20 fairly quickly, while braking hard i hear a noise that can only be described to sound like a helicopter in the distance, like a woch woch woch woch woch.

It makes the noise while braking and then after releasing and accelerating onto the next carriage way. The noise repeats at the next roundabout which is less than a minute away then doesn't happen again.

Its definitely coming from the front and I think it may be from the right hand side but can't pinpoint it.

What could it be? braking doesn't seem to be any worse but it definitely sounds like its a rotating noise which is influenced by speed, gets louder the faster i go.

any help would be much appreciated.

if you are braking very hard it is possible its just the build up of gasses from braking.... pretty sure from the description its just harsh braking..

i had the exact same problem at the weekend after some fast driving and i too believe i have a warped disc.

if it was a warped disk it would do it every time you brake... more noticable at speed though....

it is possible.. but id still say its just them overheating

thats the thing, i do 310 miles a week and its only made the noise 3 or 4 times over two weeks. If it was warped it would make the noise all the time right?

if it was a warped disc you would feel the brake pedal jumping, i know this for a fact as the other half car has a warped front disc that i can't be assed changing as the car is only there as an emergency car

bet you havent changed your fluid in ages! ????

id suggest check your pads, and flush some new fluid in it.. quality stuff and the problem will go away... unless it is disks, but again you would/should feel it all the time

well, I'm now having to change the discs on her car as my stilo is off the road AGAIN, been off more than its been on grrrrr
