Hi All

I'm new to this site but posting question on behalf of my mother who has just bought a Stilo 1.9 Diesel, she lives in France and has looked in the manual to find out what the light means but it is difficult to understand as it is all in French so I wondering if someone out there might be able to help :)

She says the light which is a white triangle with an exclamation mark in it comes up mostly when she's changing gear, she says she thinks the manual is saying that she is going to slow in a certain gear?? it also makes a little beeping sound too.

Sorry to be so vague but is difficult as I haven't seen in and she's in France describing it over the phone.

I look forward to hearing from you.

handbrake?

o and i thought all the lights were amber and warning lights were red, unless thats different over there

Is it an Abarth with the colour dash screen? The only thing i can think of with an exclamation mark is the speed limiter thing? It can be adjusted to a certain speed and will tell the user if they are going too fast. Is there any message on the dash display?

The triangle with an exclamation mark in it is a general warning which has multiple functions:

1) Inertial fuel cut-off switch triggered
2) Low engine oil (JTD only)
3) Warning light failure (eg. one of the other warning lights)
4) Sensor failure
5) Window anti-crushing system failure

You should be able to tell what the fault relates in the multi function display.

Hi

Thank you so much for all of your replies, I will pass them on to my mum :)

It is a Stilo Active (Berlin) 1.9 JTD Diesel 2002 old shape if that makes any difference??

I reckon the best thing is for her to go into the garage that she bought it from to ask them. I spoke to a Fiat dealer in Hemel Hempstead and he seemed pretty clueless, hence the reason I came onto this site to ask all of you..

She actually says it is pointing to the multi functional display so I might suggest that she takes one of her friends out with her so that they can see what it is doing..

Thank you, Mimz

What does the MFD say? Is it in French then as well as the manual? If so, I'm sure a web translator should be able to help (y)

if she presses the menu button on the left of the steering wheel (next to the fog lights) she can change the language to English.... then it'll tell her!

Hi everyone, I'm Mimz's mum, didn't know she had put message on here re my little light problem! I found it by chance whilst looking for information myself! I wondered how come she was suddenly so knowleagable regarding various dashboard functions of the Fiat Stilo!!

I could have asked the Frenchman I bought it from I guess, but it would have meant struggling with new French words, as I live in Normandy so I probably would not have understood much of his reply.

Anyhow, I really appreciate all the useful replies and think that 'adamcot' has put me in the right direction because the message that comes up refers to 'vitesse' which is French for speed, so thanks Adamcot for that.

And thanks to you 'jayteedee' for letting me know I can change the language from French into English, that will make my understanding of the screen messages on the dashboard much easier to understand!

Thanks to everyone for your kind help!:)

Minette
