strange knocking

Hey guys.

A friend called earlier with an issue with his car. Its hard ro diagnose over the phone.

But he said the noise dulled of to almost stopped if he raised the habd brake 3 clics while driving so i advised tightening the handbrake as i have many of times had a loose cable knock like hell.

He did this and it has since got worse.

I can send anyone a sound click if they want. But its a constant noise and rather loud

Any help

Btw its a fiat punto the first shape not ssure on reg

Sounds to me like the handbrake cables have become detached and rattle against the car floor.
