strange indicator problems.

i have a brava 1.4 P reg.


this has been an on going problem for me.

it started over a year ago when my indicators would stop working everytime i press the brake pedal. i replaced the indicator stalks and this fixed the problem for a while.

about 4 months later my lights began switching them selves off randomly. more replacement stalks fixed this.

now sometimes when i turn my steering wheel and sometimes when i am going slowly my indicators either dont work or switch them selves off.

has anyone else had a similar problem?

is the problem likely to be just badluck in getting so many dodgy stalks from the scrappy?

is there any other causes i should be looking at?

I doubt you could be that unlucky with the stalks. Try cleaning the bulb holders at the back. Have you ever been following a car and the brake lights doing the indicating and indicator light coming on instead of brake lights? All caused by "tracking" and earth. A good clean up both sides should do the job, Be especially careful with the earth as this causes a lot of problems like this

There is a guide for cleaning stalks done by Sven i believe. It does cover the type of fault you describe.
Could you be that unlucky? If every car you get used stalks from has done galactic mileage then yes its possible.

i will check the earth connections and clean the bulb holders etc. as soon as possible. are there any other earth connections apart from the one in the boot?
