Hi i have a multipla 2002 reg with a funny beeping sound more noticible with radio switched on only does it every so often but just beeps then waits then beeps nothing showing up as faulty light

you can still here beep when radio not in but only faintley has any one got any ideas please:bang:

Mine does this,I'ts something to do with the radio recieving traffic info I think, but havent got the car to hand to check, there's a couple of buttons which bring up TA or TP or something on the screen, disable this and the beeping stops.

On my original FIAT radio - a Blaupunkt I think - this beeping was really loud and very annoying. I understand that it gives a 'reminder' beep if you are on a radio station that doesn't receive traffic info, or if the signal is too weak for the traffic info to come in.

The answer as already stated is to turn off the traffic info on the radio. Or buy an aftermarket radio that doesn't have this pain in the bum reminder!

Correct.
If you are tuned to a network where another related station does travel news (eg tuned to Radio 1, but a local BBC station has travel news), the radio will jump to that station to let you hear the traffic. IF this function is on (it says TA -- for traffic announcement -- on the display) but its not a strong enough signal (it stops showing TI -- traffic info supported by this station) then it beeps. (Typically if you drive into a tunnel or over hills into the next valley)

To turn off travel news, tune to station you want to listen to, then press TA button (original Multi radio - its a very small round button in a top corner) so that 'TA' is not showing.

If you DO want it on, but when news cuts in you don't need to here, press TA to go straight back to your station...

IF you persist and find the menu settings, there's an option to turn the 'beep' off
