General stilo gear knob

hey all
Any one no how to remove a fiat stilo gear knob i was told to twist it to the left but that ant workin or am i just weak dont wanna brake anything any help would be great thanks

twist it left and right 180degrees several times using water pump pliers

i just used my hand to twist as i got really pissed off cause i tried to make a tool to remove it with no avail
