Arnold Clark in Niddrie Rd Glasgow don`t start me on them. Firstly I popped in (admittedly was April 2005) with the wish to purchase one of their Pre registered Stilo`s (04 1.4 active model), get there my girlfriend wanted a new car so we talk shop with sales staff who inform us that my girlfriend can pick out her Stilo from about six options (engine size - color - trim level - Audio level) so she picks out a Green 1.4 active model, with no added extras £6.699 inc Metallic paint. sounds great, so we ask if they would accept a trade in when I pointed outside at my 1993 L reg (only 64.000 miles from new, mot`d & taxed for five months, all mots for the last eight years, service history all stamped by Fiat main dealer, new windscreen, new lower suspension springs & struts & shockers recent discs & calipers, new cat & Ss exhaust new shoes & drums & handbrake ass all new parts, Wide Seat steel wheels 6x13 x 175 x 65. most of it for it`s last two Mot`s) they said they would put it up on their ramps & get one of there car blokes to have a look at it. Sold it later for £550 & wished I`d kept it

We finish the deal (less the trade in) the guy comes back & informs both of us that they don`t want to do a trade in as the quality of the repairs to it are substandard (in the garages view) ok just give you the cash & we`re the new owners of a Green Stilo then. (y)

The bloke says yea just give us a deposit of £250 & come back with the balance in five days, & I`ll order your Stilo & I say be back with the remainder of the cash in five days. I go back to Arnold Clark five days later with the balance (my pocket bulging with £100 & £50 notes) & they tell me they can`t accept cash in large denominations, I say Fuc& off do you not want the money (they go on the phone to head office) then change their mind when I inform them I`ll cancel & take my business elsewhere.

Great I think in three days my girlfriend will have a new (well to her & only six months old & only done 14 miles from new as they drive them around the carpark in Arnold C*nt in Elgin then onto a car transporter to Govanhill) we get delivery of said Green 1.4 Stilo at Arnold C*nt in govanhill & find out to my surprize the mileage has risen to 17 miles as I am told that the car was delivered to another Arnold C*nt dealer in townhead & they had to drive the car over to govanhill (three miles by taxi, but really two miles) ok I say & guess what thats were our problems began ( as they were driving the car to charge the battery up). I make this short, the car was still warm when I collected it, the next morning my girlfriend goes to start the car & no go battery flat, so she goes to work (about 35 miles away in Edinburgh hence why she wants a new car, as my Uno`s not the safest car & well by it`s sell by date) in my Uno . I take the Stilo (Jumped it) phoned them to tell them I was coming over, They tell me the battery only needs a charge as it had lain for so long never got out of third gear in Elgin, ok I say you charge the battery leave it over night & I`ll be back in the following morning, hey presto I jump into the Stilo & click, click, guess what no go, I tell them "do you have a battery to get me home" they say "no" " I say can I speak to someone else, who can furnish me with one of the battery's out of one of the cars in you showroom, they give in & get one of the mechanics to remove a battery from a Stilo in the showroom, great I think I get home me burd gets to work in the morning I sell my Uno sorted, well for about six days when the battery goes flat yet again, but in Edinburgh outside were she worked at the time ( the recovery guy says " your alternators running a bit weak" I`d get that seen to) so he boosts the Stilo to get her home. I`m sent over to Arnie C*nt with the offending Stilo, I state fix this fuc&er with a new battery & alternator NOW. They grovelingly say "sorry sir but we cant until we test it", I say are you taking the pi$$ with me, all you do is give it a rev & watch the lights dim then get bright, then stick a fault reader on this & let that tell you Mr spanners. He tells me they have other cars to service & fix & don`t have the space to store it, just bring it back in three days & we will give it our full attention, I ask them for another battery they tell me "no we never charged you for the last one". So I leave with flames shooting out my ears. :bang::bang:

And I return & they are very nice to me (I went home & contacted their head office by phone, I also emailed them, My burd Emailed them) so the alternators is replaced, battery replaced minted, well until the first service, so here we go ............ they don`t reset the service light, they fill in the wrong Mileage, should be 1200 miles they printed & signed 84.000 miles, & never even put the battery cover back on (they had left it all oily in the boot so we complained again, they blamed the apprentice. Second service They never reset the service light, they said that the car was running a bit rough & investigated the cause, one of there old mechanics had crossthreaded one of the plugs that fell out during the road test, they never even bothered fixing it they just put in another plug, And never used them again, took the car to the dealer that did my Uno & most of my car repairs who told us that not only had they cross threaded one of the plugs they had cross threaded two of them & fuc&ed up the sump oil draining bolt, which they had put the wrong one back in & covered it with sealant then bolted back in (that fell out & wouldn`t go back in there the wrong one, wasn`t even a Fiat one). & they wouldn`t even except responsibility as the faults were not investigated by them, so one sump repair & two badly fitted spark plugs later (the c*nts had cross threaded the battery security bolts, murder to get out) so beware, they will fuc& up your car & charge you & all lie & hide behind invisible apprentice`s & old men ready for their clock.

Arnold Rimmer Fiat car idiots.

its common practice for any garage to not except large amounts of cash, to stop money laundering and people buying cars with profits of crime

They said that, but I stated I was only buying a car at £7000 not a limo & they did say come back with the money in five days, so they phoned head branch (probably phoned the speaking clock) & then they accepted the cash as it was all new some with the banks wrapper still on it in a banks plastic bag. :D

My Stilo is 7 years old and has done 61,000 K

No problems whatsoever.

That is good to hear no electrical probs or mechanical one`s too, well got the exhaust replaced (free-flow good quality SS from the cat, with removable rear silencer) two batterys & alternator & belts (all under Fiat Extended warranty) six tyres, cambelt & tensioner (if you are going to replace the cam belt be stupid not to replace the tensioner as that`s a false economy) 71.000 on the original discs & pads (yes we always brake but don`t hammer then on) & it`s a 54 plate & apart from the sump & plug idiot, no probs.
Ohh nearly forgot got the front strut spring modification done under warranty too, & they are going a bit on the soggy side so will be replaced soon, by lowered & uprated strut/shock/spring ones. (y)

Re: Fiat garage idiots.

is this techs in this garage or in general at AC branches?

It was four years ago, but bad work has been going out this garage for years, as they are always replacing their apprentice mechanics, (or in our case moved him to Rutherglen branch), & now that the recession has bit them more than other "groups" they will get worse & they cant do accident repairs either, so I was told & they have managed to tarnish Fiats name worse than it was in the 70`s. 4 years ago! How many original staff are still there to this day?

IMO Arnold clark are very sales orientated and I suspected the top managers have little experience in modern car systems and are only sales target concerned (big bonuses) however they provide a service that many approve of. Technician wise they are actually very well represented in Fiat competitions but speaking to the techs themselves reveals a under current of poor conditions and general mistrust of the company. Salesmen are ten a penny...look at the number of vacancies on their website for sales staff:rolleyes:
