Technical Stilo Abarth Nav + lost in space :(

Hey all!

new to this site but glad I found this.

Q 4 someone who can help.

I bought a Stilo Abarth in aug of last year in Germany.

The car is fab.. loving it totally.

For the first 3 months the Nav was working perfectly.. not a prob at all.
Then it seems like it's loosing it's signal.. coz the arrow which is showing where you are and driving, jumps out of the road..
and if you've set a route it's loosing where it's going, seems like you are driving beside the road.

Then it can jump back into the route/on the road and working fine again and then might loose it again..

The female voice is working perfectly, and it can find the roads perfectly
even if it's jumping on/off the road.

I've changed the antenna but didn't help,
last thing I want to do is to change the whole wire system,
stripping the roof a.s.o

Is there something that can be done from the panel inside?
resetting the whole system?
did try to loose the minus batterypool.. but didn't work
Don't think its something wrong with the satelitte connection, coz the display shows full strenght.

Any ideas on how to get it to work again?

Changed the antenna? You would have to strip the roof lining to do that. If you mean you changed the screw in aerial on the roof at the back of your car, all you did was change your radio aerial which will have no effect.
The GPS antenna is in the black lump at the base of the radio aerial.
First thing to do is to take the head unit out and make sure all connectors are securely plugged in to the back of it. Unplug and plug them in a few times, then see if things improve. Does the little satellite signal in the top right of the screen go red? Green is good, Red is no signal.

my tom tom does this,its when the roads have been moved or worked on,according to my tom tom, i was driving over a field! May just need a software update.

Always try the simple tasks 1st.

The signal, the satellite is always green, so there's no fault with the signal..
is the unit hard to remove? or should I say difficult?

push a thin screwdriver or coat hanger wire down each of the two holes in the face of the unit (one each side of the cd slot). They go in easily at first, then you have to push it a bit harder to release the catches. The unit then just pulls out forwards.

Found some new things about the NAV y-day which was intressting.

If you set the route and put the scale to a minimum of 1 km or 2 km it seems to be working fine.. but less than 1 km it looses itself after awhile.
Aswell it seems that you drive about 30km or so and then the "red" seems to end and it looses itself aswell.

The NAV finds the coordinators perfect and it says I'm connecting with 9 satallites.. it seems more like it's a tuning problem more than a hardware problem.. or Am I wrong?

Might be worth making sure you have version 9.8 and later maps and see if the problem still occurs...

this might sound like a silly question.. but how do I know/find out what version I've got? mine is an 03

When it starts up and you get the fiat logo, look in the bottom right corner of the screen.
