Hi,

I'm picking my Stilo Abarth up from the Fiat main dealer tomorrow having been told I need a new engine ECU.

Basically the car will start and run but it cuts out randomly - usually after 2-3 minutes. I bought the car recently after it had been parked in a yard, unused, for 8 months.

I had my existing ECU tested but it came back as 'inconclusive' as there might be a software error on it - it was OK from the hardware side. The car has been jump started in the past (on a 12v tractor battery!), before I got it, so that may have caused the problem. The Fiat dealer diagnostics can't communicate with the ECU itself. Anyway, can anyone tell me where the main engine ECU is located on the car (the dealer took it out first time) so I can get the part number to order a new one off eBay? and, can put a new one in myself? i.e. is it plug and play or will it need setting up by the dealer?

Any help most appreciated.
