hello ,,, i keep getting intermitten messasage saying fault with auto gearbox return to dealer ,,,,it seems to flash the message only when engine is warm and when turning ,,gearbox goes up and down gears without any problem even with this annoying message i dont no but could it be a fluid issue thanks for any help

The fluid level is critical. Selespeed systems will happily live when over filled a little, give that a try first, if not, try getting the box re-calibrated.

thanks andy,, i am not very mechanical i no there there is auto reservoir beside battery box and will check it but i did read somewhere that there is a gear box dipstick under the car ???? thanks for any help

The gearbo is a different unit to the Slespeed shift system. The gearbox is a standard 5 speed manual. The actuators(motors) move the regular gear shift'stick' to engage each gear. They work like little hydraulic rams. Another one releases and engages the clutch. The gearbox oil may benefit from a change, but it usually helps to improve shift speed only.

Its from the gearbox on Alfa 147 and 156s. Its the same system though, just looks a little different!
