Technical Stiff gearchange

Hi all. Just bought a Ducato based Moho. 2005 2.3 and having a similar problem to the one I had in my old Panda Cross in that the gearstick is stiff to move. Not so bad in the up and down direction but moreso on the side to side movement. On my old Panda, this was down to the selector rods above the gearbox. Removing, cleaning and greasing solved the problem. Is it likely to be similar on the Ducato and, if so, where do I find said linkage? Suspect it may be under the air filter housing? Any help would be much appreciated
