Hey guys, decided to download and try out MultiEcuScan today to see if it would help me identify the problem causing my ESP/Hill holder unavailable error I've been getting for a while now

When I connected to and scanned for errors I got one saying

"C1517 - Steering Angle Sensor (NGE) Out of range"
Error Details:
Vehicle Speed 92.625km/h
Brake Light Switch: OFF

Could this be causing my ESP/Hill holder error?
If so, what should I do first?
Replace?
Try to re-calibrate(?) it with MES?

All help/advice is appreciated

Yes, it will cause the ESP/Hill holder issues.

The easiest way you reset/relearn the steering angle:
-take off the battery negative cable..leave off for ~40min
-put cable back (you will now have another ESP/Hillholder error)
-Make sure the steering wheel is in the center possition
-start engine
-turn steering wheel all the way to the right, hold it for 1-2 seconds
-turn steering wheel all the way to the left, hold it for 1-2 seconds
-turn in to the center.

Now the steering angle position should be leaned. When you restart the engine the error should be gone.
If you're still getting the error, you can try again.. a few times.

But if the error is still there, there might be actual damage in the electric steering column. Not sure if you can replace the sensor...might need to replace the whole steering column (and do a proxy alignment after).

Thanks aurick86

I've done that in the past but thought it was purely for the fog/turning lights

Will have to try it soon, but should probably get steering wheel/alignment sorted first as steering wheel if off on an angle

This might be causing the error.
Definitely needs to be aligned first and make sure the steering wheel is straight.

Then do the relearn procedure.
