I have recently bought a Punto 1.3 diesel multijet dynamic. I went to put diesel in but car failed to start and after a few attempts the battery went flat phoned rac and when they charged battery it started straight up he tested battery and said it's charging so can't see battery or alternator problem. He did mention something about the fuel running back threw but surely that would effect cold start once I got home I turned engine of and again wouldn't restart after a hour once engine was cold I tried it again started first time. Has anyone eles had similar issues or have a idea what the fault could be I was thinking crank shaft sensor or am I no where near

Crank sensor would be my guess as they only seem to give out when warm. They are a cheap part too, so no harm in replacing it to eliminate it from your enquiry.

They don't throw a fault code on the dash when they fail. As far as the ECU is concerned, the engine has stopped when there's a drop in signal from the sensor.
