HI there
I have a 2.4 td 125 and it has been getting harder to start. Loads of churning, almost firing but just smoke and in the end it flattened a nearly new battery. Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation.

Rich

Hi
you could maybe change the pre-heat relay.
Or the fuse to the relay.
I would also change the fuel filter.
Is the battery the right spec for a diesel? (well worth checking)
Good luck
Dave

could be glows plugs, I managed to change 2/4 glow plugs and the car starts much better. the next 2 are going to be much harder from looks of things.

Could also try presurising the fuel system by pumping the rubber ball thing towards the back of the engine bay until its tougher.

Thanks LanciaMad and Clobak for the advice. I called the AA in the end and they reckon glow plugs too as it started easily with a puff of easistart in the air box. How easy are glow plugs to change?

Good luck with the Integrale!

Rich

Thanks!

I changed 2 on a 1.9 100td without too much hastle, it doesnt need all working to start, 2 is prob a minimum. the other 2 I'll have to take more stuff off the engine and look like a pain..... not sure how this compares to the 2.4 though

an easy test for a duff glow plug is to disconnect the wire from it first then run a length of thin insulated wire from the positive + battery terminal and touch briefly the end of the wire onto the glow plug terminal post. if it sparks the glow plug is fine ,but if no spark it is duff
