Technical starting problem

Just tried to start my marea 24tdx when I turn the key all I get is a clicking noise and the dash loights flash on and off the battery says it fuull charge toke it off any put it on charge but charger says it full charge anyone any ideas what it could be

Its the battery put it back on car and it tried to start no clicking or that just not enough power to turn over

erm, i think you've answered your own question but yes, it sounds like a nackered battery, they 'may' still appear to charge.

You should always get the battery checked properly before you condemn it, I am in the motor trade and lost count long ago of the number of batteries changed when it was the alternator or starter motor that was faulty (and vice versa). It is possible that the starter motor is the problem, the clicking you hear may be the starter solenoid operating. Try giving the starter motor casing a bang with a hammer or a long metal bar as you operate the key, they sometimes jam and a sharp knock will often solve the problem.

Earth strap(s) get my vote. See if it starts OK with a jump lead connected from the battery negative to the engine. If it does then its a fault in the earthing somewhere.
