Starting car from cold...

Hi

When i start the car in the morning..as its cold i get a noisy rattle from the engine and the revs go up and down (not by a huge amount)
and takes like 20 secnds to settle then i can drive.

if i drive too soon..then the car will seem to jerk or hesistate to drive smoothyl, the gine management light will also flash until the car starts to go smoother in which case it goes off.

its when the car is cold..any ideas.

i have already replaced map sensor and thermostat!

I always let my HGT warm up before I move off, particularly first thing in the morning. It takes a minute or so but I wait til the revs have died down and it drives smooth after that. After all, its getting old and like me its a slow starter in the mornings!

Replacing the termostat or MAP sensor will not fix any of those error codes.

there shouldn't be any rattling or banging when cold, i know oil takes a few mins to get to temp, and a few seconds to get distributed

but enoth oil should remain on moving parts to counter for this

can we have a sound clip of the noise? could be warn cam followers, or a very early sign of big end failer

Could just be the tappets rattling on start up. if the rattle stops i doubt it being the big end or small end bearings:

HI, well me personally would say your car seems normal..BUT what is your oil like? whenever my car (1 in the past)was low on oil,1st thing in the morning it would rattle and u cud hear the tappets but once warmed up it were fine.So check your oil level.Dont let it get below min.
My car at the min revs high to about 1.5-2k for a few mins like sam has sed,it takes a while for oil to warm up and settle,then after that it settles nicely and im on my way..If i drive off straight away,like you said yourself,it it is jerky until its warm..
Tbh i would say your car seems fine...
But if your still in doubt,get it to a garage and get it checked over.

ok it may seem fine..but surely most cars dtn do that?

is it linked to a lambda sensor by chance?

or ignition coils/cylinders?
