Hi All,

Just a quick guide on how to remove and refit your starter motor,

First you need to disconnect the batter by disconnecting the negative cable by using normally a 10 or 13mm spanner or socket & ratchet,your battery will not be the same as mine but all battery's only have 2 connections,positive+ & negative-,make sure once you have it disconnected tuck the cable away from the battery terminal so they do make contact until your refitting it later

Once you have this done you need to jack the car up and support it at the front using 2 axle stands,you need to do this as the starter once loosened off,will be lowered downwards to remove it from the engine bay,

The starter is wired the same way as the battery,1 positive terminal+,and 1 negative terminal-,now its time to lie beneath the engine and if you look at the pic's below you will see 2 wires connected to the starter motor, using a 13mm & 10mm nut,so you need a 10mm and 13mm socket & ratchet to loosen them,on the top positive wire you will need to press and pull to remove the black cover to gain access to the 13mm nut, and then do the same again but this time pull off the rubber cover that's covering the 10mm nut on the negative terminal like below,

Once you have this done tuck the wiring up out of the way of the starter so they don't get in your way when removing the starter later in this guide,

Next you will be working from above removing 1 of 3 x 13mm bolts holding the starter in place,if you look at the below pic you will see i have attached my socket and extension bar to it to indicate where the top 13mm bolt is located,it is tight down there and you will be going in blind but once this 13mm bolt is removed its a gift to finish off the job from below the car,

If you look at the below pic you will see 2 x 13mm bolts still holding the starter in place,its now time to remove them,on removing the last bolt you will need to hold the starter at the same time or it will fall down out to the ground......Ooch !

Refitting is just the reverse of whats just been done apart from you will need to torque the 3 bolts holding the starter in place which is 45Nm / 33ibf ft,
