Technical Splay footed JTD

My 2005 JTD with only 63k was in garage recently having new clutch fitted (£375 not bad price) since its come out the rear nearside wheel looks a bit out of whack its kinda not vertical in at the top and out at the bottom much more so that the other side - any ideas what could be wrong is it going to snap off! no noise or clunks coming from it.

Rear swing arm bushes jack up grab top and bottom and feel for movement.

Thanks JTD man, knew it would be you who came back. Do those bushes fit to the vertical bar which goes from the trailing arm to the car body? or am I talking thro my ARB.

The bearings are in the trailing arm itself, the arms are reasonably cheap or you can I believe change the bearings

Its supposed to be a pig of a job changing just the bushes, im on the lookout for some arms myself for when it happens.
The bearing kits are £20 a side so it is cheaper but the long bolt that goes through the arm seems to allways be seized.

Just a thought , if you do go down the new route then ill have your old ones off you i could then replace the bushes in them fit to mine then offer mine to the next unfortunate .

Thanks for that - I'm leaving it in tomorrow to get a quote if I get all new I;ll give you a shout.

Mind you suspension is now the least of the worries its blowing black smoke in first then taking off like a rocket once warm EGRV no doubt.

No worries , my mate who's drive we changed mine on has just found my old roll bar in his bushes

Verdict is that is a bearing in the trailing arm and that the mechanic can still get the kit rather than having to buy the whole arm - he also reckons teh black somke is some sort of air flow sensor - is that he same as the MAF I hear some folk on here talking about?

yep the kits are all over ebay for £20 a side but can be a pig to do so when you weigh up labour charges per hour sometimes its cheaper to replace the whole arm.
