Hi,

ive noticed a zero error reading on my uno. so when the car is stationary, the speedo unit shows about 10 kmph. i would like to know whether it is possible to rewind this. must i get the unit changed?? or the speedo cable changed?? wot must be done??

What happens when you drive in reverse - does the needle go down to 0 (and below?) Or is the needle sitting on a pin at 10km/h? Some speedometers have this pin and are obviously designed to show only speeds above this.

All the Unos I've seen don't have a pin and yes, the needle usually sits at 0, give or take a bit. Changing (or cleaning & regreasing) the speedo cable won't help. I think you should check the speedometer against a GPS at several speeds (e.g. 50km/h, 100km/h) to see if it is actually out by the 10km/h that you think it is. If it's out by more at higher speeds, that's normal - the speedometer is usually set to over-read so you don't get speeding tickets. :) But it would be a good idea to get it accurate at 50km/h.

If you want to re-set it to 0, you would need to take the cluster lens off and carefully pry the needle off with two small screwdrivers, then replace it. You'll have to be very careful not to adjust it too far as you'll find the needle will be quite free to turn - so take it off with it at 10 and put it back on 0 (etc.)

Cheers,
