I need some help please..
I have Fiat UNO 1372cc year 1995 which has a problem with the speedometer cable.
I was looking for a cable that fits the speedometer gear and it seems that there is no one like that or it is not produced anymore..
I need the right one with the white plastic at the end. (photo HPIM0450)
As you may know, the plastic piece functioning as adaptor for the cable
to fit the Square hole on the speedometer gear.
Anyway, I could find at the PartsStore a cable with squared end, but it is smaller square then the speedometer gear, which is not good.
-One option is to create an adaptor instead of the plastic one.
Onecar mechanic said to me that maybe If I change the speedometer gear to a new one, than it will fit to the squared shape of the speedometer cable.
I am ready to do that because I don't have any other easy option.
I attached 2 photos of my speedometer gear. one from above and one from the side.
As you can see there is a small Allenscrew underneath. I assume that if I open it the speedometer gear will go out.
My question:
Is there any risk that when removing the Allen screw, the speedometer gear could fall down to the gear box ... Or it is safe and I don't need to worry.. ??!!
Is there a place you know, I could buy Compatible speedometer Gear?
Is there a photo of it, so I could see how how it looks like?
Please, If someone could advise me , I will appreciate itvery much !
