Am I missing something either on my cable or the seal housing? Have 1.5mm gap between the housing and the cable, that someone had tried to seal up with teflon tape??? If this is a part that can be purchased, can anyone tell me what it is, or have a picture of it and I could possibly make one out of brass or nylon?? Or is this the wrong cable or Orings? Don't want to fill it up until this is sorted. I do have the flexible "pin" that retains this end of the cable.

I do not have the answer, but 2000 was the year in which common rail engines were introduced. The common rail engines were to some extent, dropped into the existing x230 vehicle. However these engines required sensors for rpm, and road speed to feed into the engine ECU, with the existing mechanical rpm, and speedometers being retained. There does seem to be some scope for an associated change in the drive cables.

If as you imply an insert is missing, then that would require sealing on inner and outer faces. I do not think that "O" rings would be ablle to make an effective seal in the gap illustrated.

I appreciate the info, but this is not a common rail, it's a standard 1.9TD, thought I had written that in there.

You have not fully understood. I was suggesting that there may be pre, and post common raill versions of the cable, and as 2000 was changeover year, the possibility for some confusion could exist.

Hi, long shot I know, but do you have any more photos of the plastic speedo housing? From the other end?
Mine was heat damaged at the 'gearbox end' and i'm looking into getting one 3d printed but I need to see a bit more. Thanks.
P.S. where did you get the parts drawing from?
Cheers
