I know this is incredable similar to some other posts but,

Does everyone's speedo needle 'bounce'?

Mine does also it doesn't settle on 0, when stopped it sits on about 5mph

When going backwards it goes below 0!

And i makes an annoying 'clicking noise'

Do you think this is the clock or the cable?

Do you think i should fit a second hand set of clocks?

Its only from a mk2 1993/4 999cc fire so it only shows fuel, speed and temp plus the ususal warnings.

Cheers Will.

Nice one bud i will take the cable out soak in wd40 re grease with some castrol and pop it back in and we will see what happen

Also alex is there more than one bulb in a mk2 dash board (my petrol gauge doesnt seem to light up) only happened tonight!

bizzare!

Will.

I expect there would be, but I'm actually the wrong person to ask since I have almost no experience of the Mk2 (they're rare over here)... :)

What I do is take the dash cluster out, and remove each bulb holder, shining a small torch (e.g. AAA-battery Maglite) through each hole in turn. Amazing what 'secret' lights you can discover - an hour of fun to be had (sad, I know).

Usually the ones for the gauge illumination are pretty obvious because they have a green filter of some sort. On the Mk1, they're arranged in a strip across the top of the cluster front 'hood', separate from the rest of the bulbs on the back. The Mk1 Turbo has three bulbs, the other models have two. To change the colour, you can pry off the light strip, remove the green filter strip, and fit coloured silicone 'caps' onto the bulbs. I like red!

I know that's not making sense:( but.... my speedo bounce only in hot days at low speeds (under 60 kph)

Did my speedo cable today less noise less bouncing now it sits at 3 mph when stopped. I am happy with that!

But . . . . does anyone have the white holding clip that connects the cable to the back of the dial as when i took the clocks out it was snapped it still held the cable to the dash but not the outside of the cable if you know what i mean! So what must of been happening was that the speedo cable due to i being basically a big spring has brought all the old grease out of the cable as the last cm was in open air i have taped it back up but i would rather replace it!

Any one got one? - Know where i can get one?
