General speakers cinquecento

I own a '97 Cinquecento (900S) and I recently wrecked the speakers in the front. I want to replace them with new/better ones. Wat speakers do you recommend? They have to be suitable to put in the front without having to modify the dashboard. They have to be fairly good and not too expensive.

Any suggestions?

Any custom fit 10cm speaker should fit with little modification...

Checkout Audio places in the back of Max Power and the like....

You can get SONY's for about £15 a pair....

Thanx for your reply, what do you mean by 'little modification'??? I don't want to have to wreck my dashboard. (I'm very clumsy...)

No.. you wont...

I am not sure how the standard speakers are screwed into place...

Sometimes the screw holes don't fit exactly with the old ones. The speaker grills however will fit if you get the right speakers, so when you've put them back you won't be able to see the difference.. only hear it.

If you don't know a nearby Audio place, Halfords have a book of Custom Fit Sony stuff, and can order in Cinq Speakers for you.. Halfords tend to be a little expensive though..

That's what I want to know: which speakers will fit? What are the appropriate dimensions? I guess the mounting depth is very important. How 'deep can I go'???

(I don't want to install new Fiat-factory-speakers...)

10cm diameter fit... I don't know about depth. An audio specialist will know what fits...

I am planning on doing it in the summer....

I recently fitted some Kenwood KFC-1058s 100mm 90w speakers behind the standard grills of my 96 Chinky. The were a direct replacement for the original speakers just take the grills off and swap them over, easy. They cost £20 from Halfords. They are definately an improvement over stock but not earth shattering, mine work well with a sub and some remote tweets.

Replaced mine with Alpine speakers at the front , the £30 ones from Halfords. Great improvement in treble, but speaker grille needed to be left off (which aint no bad thing). Overall - recommended.

those Kenwoods are a god bet, you can get them for £15 + P&P at the moment from incarexpress. Costs £25.25 including delivery so much the same as going to Halfords but without the journey!

Could be good if you don't live too near one!

Hi,

I think any 10cm speaker should fit. At least into the stock "hole" in the dash board.
Maybe the (now added) tweeter (the high tone speaker) might be to high to fit the stock grid back on top, but if you use a normal aftermnarker (more fence looking) thing for 10cm speaker everything will fit and it'll be even better for the sound (as the stock ones are a little restrictive).

Hope everyone understands what I'm talking about (english is my 2nd language)

go to http://www.caraudiodirect.com and have a look at their online shop. its a great web site and you can look at a huge range of speakers. i know this sounds like an ad for them but they are pretty good. all the prices include vat and P&P.

I've resently fitted 2 10cm pioneers in the front, they screwed in no trouble what so ever. But you'll never get a great sound from such small speakers.

amp them!!! i got vibe SA40's amped (60W each) and they sound pretty cool. you'll never get a good sound running them of the HU because the HU will only give out about 20-25W RMS. There is no point buying 50W speakers then running them off a 20W supply!!!
