Spark Plugs removal?????

Hi

My Fiat Brava 1.4 1999 isnt starting.

It is turning over, but its just missing that final kick to get it started.

So i have presumed it is the spark plugs that need changing, i have removed the 4 plastic caps that are covering them, but it is not possible for me to remove them as i cant reach them.

Is there any easier way of getting to them or is there a specific tool to be able to reach them.

Maybe its a stupid question but i dont know too much about car and dont want to spend a hundred quid calling the local garage out.

You need a spark plug removal socket. There are two sizes usually, so find which spark plugs your car needs and buy the relevant spark plug socket for it.

The spark plug socket has a rubber bung inside which will hold onto the spark plug when you come to remove or refit.

sometimes the rubber gets lost. as mine has, I use a telescopic magnet to lift em out and replace them

try not to buy the cheap £4 spark plug removal tool thats T shaped, as it wont give enough leverage. Instead, buy a spark plug socket, and use your normal socket set. assuming you have acces to a socket set that is. I always borrowed my mates socket set that had an elbow in it, so i could just lean on it (towards my windscreen) and let my weight and gravity do all the work.

You can buy a spark plug service kit with the two previously mentioned sockets with a ratchet and extensions for about £20 from halfords.
