Once again...another expense for the bravo!

Mechanic told me i have a spacer missing for one of my 17" (Team Dynamics?)Fusion 100+ alloy wheel, and some guy selling them on ebay said "we do the spacers for your car they are £55.00 in vat for the pair with fitting kit", so he can bugger off!

Is a universal spacer going to do the job? I called a local shop selling such items, and they asked "6mm or..." etc etc, telling me its around £20/£25, though i have no idea what size is needed - can someone please help?? :S

Re: Untitled

Why have you got spacers on your car?

Unless you have Brembo's or another Big Brake Kit, then 17,s will fit fine without a spacer.

Are you sure he didnt mean a spiggot ring?

That is the bit that adjusts the centre bore to fit your hub properly.

If it is that bit, go to Motorworld, they sell then there.

I'm guessing its not a spacer you're missing but the spigot ring.

Hmm...the moron said a spacer :|

Said i had 3, and 1 wasn't there :s

Any chance you could link me to the rings please - i tried finding it, but got "Your keyword(s), spigot, appeared on the following pages:" :(

Def. a spigot ring!

I have no idea what "size"...if a size is needed. Can anyone offer further help on locating the spigot ring(s)from a reliable source please?

MOTORWORLD!!!!! you have to go to the shop!! not everything can be done on the internet!!!

I'm sorry but he very well could mean a spacer!

To fit my KEI Force 10's on my HGT I have to have 5mm spacers fitted otherwise the wheels catch!

Hmm...okay, this is getting somewhat worrying. I took aboard what you guys told me about the spigot rings, and he pretty much said they "more or less" the same thing.

1. He didn't sound too sure when he was saying this
2. i don't know how worried to be, because i trust him with my car more than anyone else in my town...so kind of makes me think i'll never have someone working on my car who properly knows their stuff! :-|

I'm confused again :s

Oh, and i don't have a "motorworld" here...or anywhere closeby for that matter! Any idea where i can get the rings etc besides there?

IF this was my mess my suggestion would be take of the wheel missing the "thing" and see whats there, take a digi camera pic. Take off the wheel which is not mising the "thing" and take a pic also to post up here and compare so someone can tell you exactly what you're missing. OR using the follwing below on both you should be able to work it out yourself.

If its a spacer it will look something like this i imagine.

A spigot ring seems smaller and to be fitted to the back of the wheel according to the page below, i've never seen one before myself so cant say, from the description though i'de say it'll be smaller that a spacer. Spigot Rings are mentioned on the page in the section entitled "Wheel location on Hub"

Hope this helps.

hey buddy give me a buzz on my email im from dundee also and can probably help you out on what you needing

Great!

Am still looking around to see how to get around this, so any help you can offer, would be much appreciated!

My email is [email protected] :)

get a pic of the wheel/hub and ring where the part is missing.

a spigot ring is about 2" across, and makes the hole in the very centre of your alloy wheel a bit smaller(to match the bit that sitcks out the centre of your brake disk. This is a very important part, and its that part of the car that carries the weight of the car onto your alloys.

a spacer, as above, sits on top of the centre of the hub, is about 5" across and serves only to make your alloys sit further away from the brakes. you usually need longer wheel bolts in this case.

spacers are very rarely needed for 17's, while psigot rings almost always. i'm concerned that some monkey is saying to you that they are 'more or less the same thing' they are very different!

a wheel is very different from a tyre, just as a spigot ring is different from a spacer!

Crap...and i'm driving to and from work at 50...*gets worried*

Hopefully Darren will help me out on this one...before something happens! :-|
