sound proofing alternatives.....??

becuase my car is rattley as hell i wanna try and eliminate all the rattles n squeeks n thuds, already sussed out the rear seat and parcle shelf, but does any one know of a cheaper alternative than going out n spending loads on propper sound deadening.

the worst bits in my car is the boot,
and the door cards
and some bits of the dash,

turn the ICE up so loud you cant hear the rattles, or 2 small balls of cotton wool.

lol. no how'ay some clever person must have thought of an alternative, i dont wanna spend money on dynamat, wat about sheets of dense foam?

I was looking into the same sorta thing a while ago by searching on Google.

A lot of people seem to also find good results with asphalt based stuff. Goto B&Q or somewhere like that and have a look at loft insulation and stuff like that. You could always use the cheaper asphalt alternative everywhere, and double up with dynamat in areas which will need it most (front door speakers area, certain areas of boot, etc.)

hmmm, im going to look into that, good suggestion mate, also whilst im on the subject....

if i was to buy sound deadening should i apply to the inside of the door cards or the actual bare door, reason being, if i had to get at my window motor or door handle id have to rip all the sound stuff off which would be a waste of money

Grease your window runners while you have the door apart.

Silicone spray grease for the outer runners and silicone gloopy grease for the central runner.

Ideally, both. But as you say you need flexibilty.

Apply the stuff around the motor etc.

Need to think about that myself actually...
