:D I posted in the technical section already, but just have a couple of remaining questions that people over here may know answers too.

I only just bought the car, its an 03 plate Abarth with 62k on the clock with sillyspeed (selespeed). I need any advice, links, suggestions on:

- I need replacement front brake discs and pads, do any from other models/cars fit so I can expand my search for better prices?

- I now see I also need a key/socket for the wheel nuts as there is a keyed nut/bolt/stud on each wheel, and I have no key. Any thoughts here, other than taking it to a garage and having them removed? IE are the keys fairly standard that I could get one or borrow one?

- The exhaust looks to be the original and its futtering/blowing slightly from one of the joins (typical gasket gone sound, like a sit and ride mower). Any recommendations on exhausts, IE stainless steel systems etc.

- Lastly the sillyspeed seems sluggish (never had one before though so I can't be sure) and when trying to creep forwards in 1st it kangaroo's a bit. Any maintenance ideas (hydrolic fluid changes for example), ways to improve shift speed, reasons for the kangaroo'ing etc?

I also need a replacement bonnet release handle and + flap/button for the steering wheel gear shift. But if I can get some advice here first, I can post in the wanted section and scour fleabay etc as Fiat is a new thing for me :) Thanks (y)

  • For brake parts try Shop4Parts:

    http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/

  • Re the wheel nuts, if they are McGard you can apply to a replacement locking nut...but only if you know the code number. Otherwise I think you're into drilling out and replacing.
  • Stainless exhaust...try these for a quote?:

  • Kangarooing is not unusual with the sillyspeed. Use the search facility on this forum - its come up several times before.
  • Bonnet release - scrapyard or FIAT dealer I think...

Thanks :) ...again.

Being only 4 stud I did wonder if brake discs off of other models (JTD, certain Alfa's etc) might be the same. But I'll probably take the car to a garage to get the wheel nuts removed, I had the same problem with a Saab but they happened to have a key that fit. I'll check that I don't have a code though as they look like manufacture fitted.

I've been hunting the site for sillyspeed issues, the changes when rolling are fine though nauseating, but I hate the delay when pulling away or the heebee geebee's when trying to creep along.

Thanks for the links and thoughts! :D
