Hi,
i've owned my Cinq for a couple of months but recently have noticed that 1st gear is becoming harder and harder to select-i always wait until the car is stationary before try but it's still really hard to do and takes a good 'push' to do so-do you reckon this is a clutch problem or is it-heaven forbid!-more to do with the actual transmission?
Cheers!
Jo.

Welcome to the Forum:)

Is it all gears or just first?

Mine is a bit like that from a cold start, first and second only though. I think mine is related to the gearbox oil. IOnce the car hs been running for a little while its fine and goes back to the way it should be.

I would say that if its just one gear then it could be the box itself, but I would change the Gearbox Oil first and see if that improves it.

Id be thinking clutch cable personally.

Mine does that...works fine for about 2 months after adjusting the cable, then gets all notchy again..

Might be worth adding a few turns to the clutch cable adjuster nut...

Thanks Very Much! (y)
Yes,2nd can be tricky too-on the whole all the gears are quite notchy(1st definitely being the worst)so maybe i should invest in a new clutch cable.
Also-how do you rate your Sportings performance?addmitedly they're nice and nippy around town(once they warm up)but i have to say i was a bit dissapointed about the performance and ride quality on longer motorway trips-i find that mine gets really juddery when you approach 70 and anything over that becomes quite a chore (n) -i thought being a sporting it would cruise(and reach)80 easily but it doesn't-not that i'm a speed freak or anything!but it'd be nice to know there was a bit more power left for overtaking etc-christ,i'm glad i didn't opt for a 900!

Well there is much more to be had from them. Mine will sit at 90 nicely and will do an indicated 110 on the flat. :D

if it has trouble reaching 80 there might be an issue with it

i have a similar prob with 1st on mine... but its only occasionaly. sometiems it will go into 1st easily and others you wil really have to shove it in at standstill.

i just ignore it most of the time tho but if anyones got a suggestion then ill try it heh. i alwyas thought it might be to do with the gearbox oil level?

my gears are a bit notcy, i put it down to gearbox oil - but recently changed the oil and filled it with syntrax driveline. Still the same notcyness, so i think it is the cable.

But with this car, it could be a little more - if it can't pull to 80 and begins juddering
