Was driving out of Crianlarich today toward Loch Lomond when the 4x4 in front threw up a big bit of gypsum board of the road that smacked my OS bumper and headlamp.

I can put up with the marks on the bumper for now but I'm off to the scrappies tomorrow for a sealed unit. So the question is how much should I pay for one Bravo/a light unit?

Just for the record, can't be bother searching about for Marea lights, need the job done cheap and quick.

Thanks

Jeff

I always remove the bit myself from the scrapyard car....good practice for working on your own vehicle!

dont know if its anyhelp but i have standard headlights you could have for free but as the bolts were rusted when i took them off the bracket on the outside snapped

Yeah so do I. So i can fill my pockets up on an old coat that i have ripped the bottom of all the pockets then i can fill the lining of the coat.

stealing from scrapyards is one of those socially acceptable crimes that we're all guilty of. (y)

sunderland metals have cctv all over and if they catch you nicking bits you get escorted off the premises by big grease monkeys. not that i know from personal experience :D

The most I've nicked is fuses. Oh, and the white bits of plastic for attaching trim, I mean it's not as if they'd charge you for that anyhow! Would they?

I got a lamp for £15 in Bellshill near Glasgow, with bulbs.

It may be of interest during my scrappy search I found a Marea with intact headlamps offered to me for £40. At Birnam Motor Breakers in Uddingston.

I actually tried fitting a Marea lamp but the wiring loom seems to be different and it left me with no sidelights. As that is an MOT failure I had no option but to leave them there.

And finally, the scrappers I got my lamp from in Bellshill had a Lancia Delta Integrale set to one side for someone to turn into a track car. Sweet.

I just read your reply Helz and had a pang of regret, I'm an electronic engineer so I could have made a good bodge of it. Ordinary lamps for me. But £15 is a bit cheaper than £40 and I am the minister of poverty :)

buy them for £40 and stick them on ebay, i've seen them go for £100+ sometimes.

getting the sidelights to work is a very easy 5 minute job, there's only 2 wires for each light and the connector with the original wires is only 6-8 inches away. i fitted mine without damaging the original wiring and connector, i just pushed the new wires under the connector before pushing it on the headlight. ;)

HeHe. A big mate of mine had a similar problem in Tan y groes, they caught him filling his pockets with fixings, bulbs etc and escorted him off the lot while menacing him with a torque wrench....Cut a long story short, he got mouthy, the guy with the torque wrench took a swing at him, he laid them both out and took the torque wrench as compensation for his knuckles! Laughed my ass off when i heard the story
