I put this stuff in my 205 1.9 and it worked wonders although I've heard some manuf's don't recommend it?

Suppose half a bottle?!!

I put it in ours when it had done about 10k and have always put Mobil 1 in at oil changes.

It has now done circa 58k and the engine is still sweet and burns zero oil.

I've never used it, but it shouldn't do any harm.

Personally, I'm inclined to use a semi synthetic on stock motors, fully synth on radically tweaked ones. But Mobil 1 should take very good care of an engine if used from nearly new. I'd actually worry about the engine ever bedding in properly if used from new new!

But Christ it's expensive!

I've used Mobil 1 ever since it came out, on a Cavalier 1.8i which I bought at 45k and kept up to up to 180,000 miles, On our Polo from it's 2nd year at 20k to it's current 178,000 miles. It's a great wear reducer which is why it shouldn't be used until everything has bedded in.

Replaced the rocker box cover on the Cinq the other day and everything under there was nice and shiny thanks to the Oil.

My Current Audi A3 2.0 TDI requires Castrol EDGE which puts Mobil 1 in the cheap league

so when in an engines life would you put mobil one?, the reason i ask is that iam currently building a 1242 so obviously it will need to be bedded in first then probably put in some mobil one.

thanks
ricky

I agree, between 10 - 15 k minimum and not at all for a first time on a high mileage engine as it will find all the gaps!
