Side Indicator Covers

On returning home from a ski-ing holiday, i noticed that someone has popped my passenger side orange indicator cover... so at present its just a bulb, which looks a tad lame.

My question is, do they need to be orange or are smoked / black ones legal/illegal?

As long as they illuminate orange they can be any colour you like.

I have smoked black ones on my Brava and it passed an MOT without query with them.

Brava: Mar 99 1.9TD / 48,500 miles
Coupe: Feb 97 20V N/A / 131,000 miles

Mareas have quite dark smoked side repeaters fitted as standard anyway.
I changed mine for clear ones, fitted with amber coloured bulbs. Car has passed M.o.T. both ways.
