Hi all, I'm seriously considering putting alloys on my 'D' when the resto is done. I'll have 126 stud spacing and can't stand the standard 126 wheels. I could use adpater plates to fit standard rims, but I quite like the alloy look.

I can't seem to find many pics of cars with alloys in order to make my choice of style. I'm not really into mini lites and was looking at these...

Can't find any pics of a car with them on though, or the similar styles that the other major parts companies sell. If anyone has some pics of cars with alloys fitted, or some links they could post that would be great.

Thanks Roger

Roger,
I should have put the word in inverted commas - the 'whitewalls' are inserts. They fit very well and from a distance look like real whitewall tyres.
And yes, the tyres are 145/70R12s - Yokohamas. I think they are quiet (it's difficult to hear above the rest of the racket) and they certainly grip well both in the wet and the dry.
At the stage when the photo below was taken, I still had a bit to do - the interior, rear window etc. and it was still fitted with the original engine.
Chris

Nice. Thanks. The issue with the 126 rims is the ugly centre. I am wondering if I might be able to weld a bracket over the inside of the rim ( as on 500 rims) and attach a polished alloy hubcap. The 500 hubcaps are a little too large, so I'm looking for some that are a little smaller. Only second best to alloys though. Mind you, not a huge response to this thread yet!

Here's a few pics of my wheels, a bit rough around the edges but I like them.
They are CMR which I think were abarth replicas that might have been used on Gianninis (?). Reluctant to upgrade to 126 hubs, brakes etc as they wouldn't fit if I changed to the later stud pattern. They badly need to be refurbished though.

Colm.

Hi Roger;
I am beggining to collect the parts to build a '695' replica and one of the items I have to give thought to is (obviously) wheels, Minilites being my prefered choice---look at the web-site 'fiat 500L becomes a lusso abarth' There are 6 parts to his report, and there are a number of shots of his car with Minilites on it (admittadly, 13inch)--it looks good, very good. Also, look on e-bay--'classic fiat 500s for sale'--cars with Minilites on them often come up for sale--should give you some ideas. Lastly, look at Superlites, look the same but are cheaper.---hope all this helps.

Colm;
You CAN use '126' hubs and your wheels--there are a number of suppliers who sell adaptor spacers that have 98pcd (modern Fiat wheel bolt spacing) holes that allow you bolt the spacers to '126' brakes and an outer ring of threaded holes that allow you to then bolt on wheels with the original Fiat 500 wheel bolt spacing--quite a common trick when disc brakes have been fitted (to often only) the front--hope this helps
