In order to stay indefinitely in the UK non-European citizens must sit a form of this test. Would you pass? I didn't

You scored 17 out of a possible 24

You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain

I
'm not sure anywhere else will take me

I couldn't believe how many of the questions are irrelevant to living in Britain today.

And they were missing an option for q23: How might you stop young people playing tricks on you at Halloween?

Turn the pressure washer on them

lol, 14 out of 24 so al be in the deported que with you too.

Can't understand the need for certain questions in there, ah mean qu.4, who really need to know that?

I agree many of the questions are pointless and I think we could write much better ones.

1) If you were born in 1980 how old will you be before you can draw a state pension

a)65
b)66
c)68
d)State pension? What's one of those?

2)What is celebrated on the 25th of Decemeber

a)The birth of a fictional character
b)The only day when all shops are closed
c)The one day of the year when television is half way decent
d)Annual family get together involving rampant consumerism, too much food and drink, and lots of arguments

3)What is public transport?

a)A cheap and convenient way to get about Britain
b)A reliable method of travelling
c)A waste of time and money
d)A sign of how great Britain still is

I passed, but one of the questions is distinctly iffy to those of a pedantic nature.

The Union Flag is only the Union Jack when flown on a ship.

I'll get me anorak

Cheers

There's been much debate about whether it's the Flag or Jack when flown on land and the official stance is it doesn't matter. More info here http://www.flaginstitute.org/index.php?location=7.2

Plus a really pedantic person would point out that the wording of the question is "In 1801, a new version of the official flag of the United Kingdom was created. What is it often called?"

But thankfully I'm not that sort of person
