Shell Optimax

Has anyone else's car had side effects from Shell Optimax petrol? My Punto was fine until I used Optimax and the engine management sytem failure light came on a few times accompanied by the lumpiest idling ever. I switched back to normal unleaded and everything's fine again. The car's getting checked out by the dealer but I'm wondering was it just coincidence?

Optimax

I trialled optimax over 1,000 miles and mt HGt 155 got worse and worse. It started out as an improvement though! I switched back to super unleaded and after ac ouple of tanks the performance returned. I would not recommend using it.

I do remember using Formula Shell back in the late eighties in a Cavalier before it was taken off the market because it ate Vauxhall heads! I hope it hasn't done similar damage to peoples cars and will be taken off the market again.

(I even had a Formula Shell sun strip in my Cavalier, but keep it quiet!)
