URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to the very unsettled weather conditions with forecast?s of heavy
showers and longer periods of rain, having consulted with the Met
Office and other weather bureaux we have reluctantly decided to
postpone and reschedule this weekend?s 21st/22nd April 2012 Public
Track Event. We would like to apologise for the short notice and any
inconvenience as we were reluctant to postpone any earlier.
We will be rescheduling the weekend?s events and these will be
announced shortly. Our next event is on the May bank holiday 5th/7th
for the Voltz Energy Shots Springspeed Nationals Drag Racing and
following that will be the American Car Yanks Weekend and Public Track
Day on May 26th/27th.

Championship drag racing returns to Long Marston Airfield?s
Shakespeare County Raceway this Bank Holiday weekend May 5th/7th for
round 2 of the UK National Championships. Sponsored by Voltz Energy
Shots, the 6th annual Springspeed Nationals attracts countrywide 200
race teams and enthusiasts contesting 20 classes. The countries
biggest sportsman stars will be hitting the strip in two days of
frantic qualifying followed by the all important class eliminations on
Bank Holiday Monday.
Everything from super fast Super Pro dragsters, altereds and
doorslammers through to the teams who make up the ACU/UK Drag Bike
Series will be busy with there 1000 horsepower monsters and 190 mph
plus Super Street Bikes. The Super Twin classes and Junior Drag Bike
series will also be in action alongside the Lucas Oil Junior Dragster
Championship.
As an added extra bonus in preparation for the 3rd annual Shakey Super
Tractor Pull in June (9th/10th) the weekend will also feature three
days of testing and tuning for the mighty tractors as well as a Power
Pulling Association points round for the single engine V8 mini
modified tractors and the Junior Garden Pulling class.

10.00am each day. Full admission details can be found on the Events

you at the strip!

Believe it or not but Shakespeare County Raceway?s American car
festival has been around for more years than some care to think.
Billed in some instances as a nostalgia gathering of American iron,
this year?s Yanks (sponsored by RockAuto.com) has all the right
ingredients that an event of this magnitude had in the nineties if not
more with its custom made quarter mile, full on drag racing with all
the razzamatazz associated with an American style event. This year,
the event plays host to the opening round of the Supercharged Outlaws,
and with a 12 car entry featuring dragsters, altered and doorslammers
you can expect the track action to be fast and loud!

Following Andy Murton?s first dip into the 8 second zone at the recent
Street Nationals you can bet your bottom dollar that he?ll be out to
set the same standard at Shakey with his street driven ?68 Chevy
Camaro. Andy?s fellow racers from Outlaw Street will be at the strip
as well. As many as 25 hard as nails American inspired street cars!
Bring it on.

And the on track entertainment doesn?t stop there with action from the
nostalgia Wild Bunch racers, European interest from the VeeDubs, a Tri
Chevy Shootout and much, much more besides including the world famous
Gary?s Picnic sponsored by Gary Healey of Gary?s Shack fame which this
year will be running to a new easy to understand format. Another
popular feature resurrected by popular demand will be Show ?N? Shine
Sunday. Saturday evening?s entertainment is provided in Kenny?s Bar by
local band Insomnia and Wendy?s disco while outside the dodgem racers
are back along with a few other attractions.

Off track, the Coventry Dynamite Cheerleaders will be in town on
Sunday along side with big rigs for the big boys and miniature Winston
Cup oval track Stock Cars for everyone?s taste, and its all comin? to
Yanks. Yeee-ha!

The track opens for Frantic Friday at noon till 5.00pm for street
driven cars only with exhausts and 10.00 am both Saturday and Sunday.
We?ll even throw in a Burnout Competition for those who wish to smoke
outside! It?s also a Public Track Weekend as well.

Admission details can be found on the Shakespeare County Raceway web
site www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk

It's a Club Day weekend here (Sat/Sun July 21st/22nd) at Long Marston
Airfield's Shakespeare County Raceway, Stratford-Upon-Avon and what
better way than to get your car or motorcycle club involved in one of
the cheapest and best participation sports in all of motor sports -
Run What Ya Brung. So let's hope you've brung enough! The weekend of
fast performance is combined with the Practical Performance Car
Magazine Public Track Day on Saturday 21st July and the 3rd annual For
Ladies That Launch competition on Sunday 22nd July.

Having discovered the delights of how much fun it is to race up a drag
strip team PPC will be at the raceway in force. No doubt there will be
a grudge match or two between magazine scribes Will and Kev on the day
and who knows, you might even end up in the hallowed pages of one of
the best car enthusiasts magazines around.

Celebrating 'Women in Motor Sport', For Ladies That launch supporting
UK based charity Refuge - For Women and Children Against Domestic
Violence, is an extravaganza of speed open to any female who wants to
have a go with her car or motorcycle on Shakey's famous quarter mile,
and if they're not racing you would be surprised at just how many
ladies keep motor sport going as marshals, safety crews, track
officials, mechanics and of course racers. So its time we celebrated
the Fast Women of UK motor sport.

Car and motorcycle clubs are welcome to come along and participate on
the track or simply book a club stand to show what your clubs made of.
Clubs are also actively encouraged to take part in a full-on
head-to-head quarter mile shootout with other club members of their
choice. Just give us a call.
So that's two full days of RWYB open to all makes and models of cars
and motorcycles gives you the thrill or competitive straight line
speed without the fear of getting zapped by a road side camera! The
only camera's point at you will be those taking photos trackside! The
only ticket you'll get is a personal performance print-out registering
your reaction time to the green light, 60 ft and overall elapsed time
and mph for the quarter mile drag! After all it's the cheapest form of
motor sport in the country. Its fast and its accessible whatever your
age or make of vehicle in a safe and legal environment.
Both the PPC Magazine day and For Ladies That Launch are part of a
complete Public Track Day weekend package of events featuring super
fast Jap cars contesting the Pro Street Drag Series, Old Skool Fords
and Datsun Z cars through to Junior Dragsters and SuperTwin drag bikes
tearing up the quarter mile. There will also be a show and shine area,
fair and trade stalls as well as evening entertainment from singer
Terrie Jane in Kenny's Bar.

Further information and admission details can be found at
www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk or Facebook community pages; For
Ladies That Launch and Shakespeare County Raceway. General enquires
can be made by calling 01789 720180 or 01789 414119, and don't forget
your crash helmet and drivers licence to race in Run What Ya Brung.
See you at the strip!
