I've called around for some prices from Fiat dealers for servicing on my 1.9 JTD Dynamic. Car is coming to 2 years old, just about 19k on the clock.

Been quoted £341 by two of them for the stock service, including oil / filter change.

Both talked about the oil / filter being optional, but that there is a risk that we could drive away and the light appear 20 miles later. I understand the logic, but is this a money making exercise for them?

A third quoted a little lower on the basis that he would re-do the 12k service as the car hasn't yet hit 24k miles. I like the appeal of being cheaper, but would be concerned about the impact on warranty.

Another quoted £289 including oil / filter.

I thought all main dealers were supposed to quote the same?

I have mine serviced by a local independent garage. My understanding is that as long as they use genuine Fiat parts your warranty is valid. I have had several warranty claims and never once had a main dealer service on Myrtle.

However, there are a couple of 'indexes' or counters, to prevent lights coming on telling you you need a service or similar (oil degredation index is one of them, and DPF filter, I think. You can manually reset the service indicator yourself though) in the ecu that do need resetting after services. My main dealer do this for me at a small cost.

Hope this helps.
