My dad has been going on at me now for months to get the Panda serviced it's a J reg and I was wondering if you guys get yours serviced regularly or do you not bother cause thier older cars?

It's just it's gonna cost me up to £140 and I don't know if it's worth it?

Servicing should never be undervalued if you want to have a safe and reliable vehicle. But £140? What a rip off! too much for your birthday pressie then.
Much cheaper to buy yourself a Haynes manual and have a go yourself. That'll cost about £50 for a full DIY service and take you a only a few hours as a novice.
Any problems and you've got loads of willing helpers on this site.
Happy Pandering.

rrocketman's right - you can do it yourself as long as you have a manual. Pandas are fairly easy to work on for normal service items and genuine FIAT items are fairly cheap.

A nice pressie would be a good quality toolkit :)

Hi Gemma,
If you know NOTHING about cars, then a regular service is always recommended. However.................. you own a PANDA (lucky you ).
Before each MOT, check the fluid levels, adjust the handbrake, look for fluid drops on the floor under the car, hit rust bubbles with a screwdriver and have them welded if they burst and are in structural places.
Otherwise, fill all cavertise with Waxoyl (ziebart) every 3 years and keep on top of the rest. Your car will last forever (ish).
£140?.................totally unreasonable. They saw you coming. NEVER say that you are a woman who knows nothing about cars.
Keep in touch,

If the garage really did everything detailed in a major service - including coolant change, brake fluid change, gearbox oil change, spark plugs, points and condenser, plus all the usual, they could spend 2 or 3 hours (at 30 to 50 UKP per hour) plus the parts - you could easily get a bill of that size.

If you choose to DIY - ask here if there's anything which isn't clear, or obvious.

Regards

John H
