hi just to let all you tipo owners know im selling my car. 2.0 16v 3 door. was running fine until tonight when it just died for no reason at all. the guy i bought this off didnt tell me 1/2 the problems rele, so shes gotta go to a new home. gutted, well gutted! :bang:

What happened to your sedici? You say it just cut out - was it electronic or engine failure?

Would be interested to know what Joe was asking for the Tipo as remember what he had provisionally 'sold' it for when I saw it in 2004!

was in 4th gear cruising and just died on me. rev counter went right down to zero then engine cut out. checked everything over but no sign of whats up.
have you looked at the crank TDC sensor?
have you a spark?
do the cams rotate on turn over?
did it splutter before dieing or just went dead?
lights on dash work on ignition?
:)

just went dead. it did turn over b4 batery went flat. where is crank sensor n whats it do? does have a spark. checked blue fuse in engine bay casue thats what went last time. totally no clue rele!
sounds very much like electrical gremlins.
crank sensor is attached by bracket which you will see under the car by the crank pulley. there are four raised notches on the pulley which this sensor picks up and registers when on Top dead centre. it then fires that plug. if the sensor is not working, engine will stop dead. sometimes it a broken wire or dirty pickup.
have you checked the ECU connection. other things are earth wires that you will see attached to the bulkhead [battery feed], broken rotor arm, coil, jack lead etc. try removing the throttle potentiometor sensor plug[attached to the throttle housing and starting the car.
the fact you said it just went dead rules out fuel problems.:)

I have to agree with Sumplug. It would be a shame to just get rid of the car untill you fully understand what the problem is - it may be very very simple to fix.

If it is and you have "given" the car away you will only kick yourself!!!!!!!!!! good luck

for about £50, you can get an auto electrician out to trace the fault. it maybe something simple.:)

just for reference the crank sensor is the think facing the edge of the trigger wheel (black thing) on the left hand side.
