I'm planning on selling my 1990 Uno 60S (1108cc).

I think the MoT has just run out, to re-MoT it I have to go through the hassle and expense of insuring it (currently stored off the road, and I don't ever use it).

So, I was wondering how much difference in price I'm likely to get selling it without MoT, as opposed to what I would get if it had 12 months MoT?

The same with road tax... it's currently SORN, if I did MoT it, would it actually be worth putting 6 months tax on it, just to sell?

The car is in pretty good condition for it's age, I bought it as my 1994 Uno 60D was starting to rot out, and I planned to stick the diesel engine in the 60S, as the shell is good. But I've decided not to now... It would be a shame to rip the 1.1 engine out of a fully running car! Also I think there would be issues with the insurers if I stuck a 1.7 in a 1.1!

So, as I never use the 60S, I think its best for me to sell.

Obviously this was before I took it off the road, the 60S is the red one.

So, what would you guys do?
-Sell it as it is (MoT expired, SORN)
-Sell it with 12 months MoT, SORN
-Sell it with 12 months MoT, 6 months road tax
-Do the engine swap....

Indeed you have an interesting dilemma there. If it helps, I wouldn't buy a car that is not MOT. For the simple reason I have no means to trail it. And I am relatively mechanically dexterous (or I would like to believe so!). A car with MOT has a much broader customer base but then is it financially viable?

I think option 3 is the best compromise.

My opinion is that you won't be able to sell the car without an MOT other than for below scrap value. Unos are at rock-bottom prices now. Non-turbo or mint examples are worth very little as I'm sure you know. As nunesaf said, people wanting to buy such a cheap car don't have transport to collect the thing and that will be the end of that for 90% of potentials.

As to how you should proceed, I don't know.

Exactly, especially as its a 5-door.

I`ve found that if it aint got tax, people aint gonna be intersted, as they cant get it home without the likelyhood of getting pulled over via ANPR camera`s, & its simply not worth getting it recovered for £50-£150+

You`re looking at £130-ish as it stands or £250-ish with MOT & tax.

I might be missing something here, why not just use it as is?

Hmm... If its only worth £250 with tax and MoT, maybe I am best selling it as it is!

6 months tax will cost me about £70 I think,
MoT £50 if it passes with no work,
£100 to tag it on my insurance...

So inital outlay of at least £220, if I sell within a month I should get about £65 back from insurers...
So, if my maths works it'll cost me a £155 to make £120.... Lol

There is no point me keeping it to use, I'm only interested in cars that do 50+ mpg! Lol.

lol, tempted there! Still not 100% sure on LPG... Heard alot of mixed opinions on whether it actually makes much difference in running cost... Doubt it would be worth the conversion kit anyway.

I need to find someone with an old Fiorino with a blown engine that wants to swap!

I`m a fast driver (without a 3rd gear) & I get 40mpg in London (alot of stop starts, & my starts mean I have to wind it up to 30 in 2nd then go into 4th!).

You should comfortably get 45-50mpg in the sticks with a 3rd gear...
