Anyone here done it? I am still trying to shift the Jag and despite receiving many phone calls I still have it!

I am a bit wary about selling it on ebay though and wondered if anyone here had sold a car on there.

I wouldn't buy a car without seeing it in the flesh first.

Hiya Nige. Why's the Jag going? (Sorry if I've missed an obvious post about it).

I would only sell on ebay if you are willing to take the risk of losing a lot of money on it: most of the cars THAT sell on ebay are set with no reserve: some sell at market value, others sell at far below this. I've been looking for a Jag XJ40 recently and have noticed that the Jags are going very cheaply at present. If you do go for it state that test drives must be taken before bidding and all bids are contracted (don't know if this would stand up in court but it would scare off the ******s who bid for a laugh)

I haven't sold on ebay but have bought a couple of cars: I look for a good ebay rating, pics from all angles and honest description. However, the cars I have bought have been cheap as I still am not sure about paying out a lot of money on a car I have not seen. As you know (from when you asked for advice when selling the 1.4 bravo) I love Autotrader so would stick with this for a little longer or try some local Jag specialist garages: they offer more than you think and a lot more than a dealer. Hope this helps you in your decision.

thanks

Gaz, thanks for your information. I put it up for sale with a reserve so I dont have to sell if the reserve aint reached.

The Jag going :( well it was either the Jag or the wife, neither can cook but the wife has a nice cat and I would miss it.

You looking for an XJ40, a lot of the XJ40 is in the XJR-S, I just happen to know where the is one for sale!!!

selling on e-bay

Regardless of what e-bay say, you have NO legal come back against time wasters or people who pull out of the deal. There are some right con men on there, both buyers and sellers. I went to buy a watch from a guy who was selling loads of them, he put Warickshire as his location. The prices were pretty cheap, but when you won the bid, it turned out the guy lives in SINGAPORE...and you are expected to pay the postage !!!

He is still there now doing the same stuff, dispite all the negative feedback

Re: thanks

No probs. All I meant about the reserve thing was that most 'reserve' cars don't seem to sell: people seem to prefer the £1 start and winner takes it whatever the price (very risky and I haven't the balls to try it!) Good luck tho - it looks gorgeous. I would love a TWR Jag but would have to sell the cars and girlf to run it :)

Your e-bay advert

Nige, just looked at it out of curiosity, cause I am brasic.lol

When you click on your e-mail link, you can only post a question to you, if you are already a memeber of e-bay, I think I would be tempted to put your e-mail in your main posts, just in case a browser fancies posting you a note
