Hi all at FF.
I am the worried owner of a 1998 60 Selecta Punto. I bought this car a week ago understanding that the gear selector lever was 'a little stiff sometimes'. Having now driven the car, I find the following faults:-
* The selector lever is very notchy to get into D and R
* Sometimes between N and D / N and R, the gears graunch slightly
* When cold, in D or R, there is a slight juddering and a small squeak which disappears when warmed up. There are no warning lights coming on to indicate a problem. With the engine switched off, the gear selector is free moving and not at all 'notchy'. Have I bought a heap of trouble or is this likely to be something simple like gearbox oil level or linkage adjustment?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Daisy-d.
