i would change the fuel filter anyway. may as well least then you dont have to change it again for a bit
I had a similar problem a few years ago and it was the lambda sensor in the downpipe, I bought a universal one from ebay for £cheap, and problem solved
Wouldn't a Lambda issue cause the diagnostic light to trigger though?
