Since we fixed loose earth car is wonderfull but still enclined to cut out at low revs only. especially when warm.

Our mechanic fitted new temp sensor, thermostat, fan switch, water pump and timing belt so should not be overheating.

Runs perfectly otherwise.. so should not be pump and has new petrol filter
Looks like we should learn a bit about about idle settings or injectors

Starts instantly when cold takes a couple of goes to start when warm?

What is most likely culprit.

Lambda?

Apologies for delay in thanking you for such a prompt, reply.
New Fiat lambda on order. Such a sensitive part should probably be routinely replaced in any case if we want a car to be reasonably reliable.

Many thanks D for your help.

D Only a suggestion? It was spot on.
The new lambda has sorted the cutting out.
The car is running perfectly now.

You can appreciate reluctance for some to simply replace an expensive lambda. What if it made no difference?
Certainly if I hadn't replaced it the car would still be cutting out.

Last little job to be done is a new back on the alternator as the rear bearing sounds a littler loose in the housing.

I suspect the car was low mileage due to always being unreliable for long journeys, this is not surprising with dodgy Lambda and loose earth connection probably from new.

The mechanic did not check lambda values but you were right that is the main thing.
It is academic now but would the values have come up when it was on the computer or do we simply check Ohms reading on different wires at certain temperatures.

Computer had indicated slightly high engine temp new thermostat and water pump has sorted that.

A good outcome all round. Thanks
