General Scumbags Ruined My MOT?

Hi Guys.

Basically my Punto is booked in for its MOT tomorrow.

However, over the weekend some little scrote has tried to break into it. Tried being the operative word cos they didn't manage it, and there was nothing of value left in the car anyway!

So basically they ripped the lock barrel out and left it discarded on the floor. It's central locking and if i open the door via the passenger side I can easily get in the car. I've tidied the damaged lock up a bit and slotted it snugly back in the gap, so that I'm not driving round with a hole in the door. I'm not worried about anyone trying to break in again as it's now parked on a private car park with 24/7 CCTV.

Obviously I'm going to have to mess about getting it repaired some time this week, but definitely haven't time to do this before tomorrow's MOT!

Am I right in thinking it'll fail in its current state? If so I might as well cancel the bloody MOT now until I can get it repaired

Fiat approved bodyshop round here are quoting over £1000 for the repairs, yeah right!

I'm not worried about anyone trying to break in again as it's now parked on a private car park with 24/7 CCTV.

youd be surprised what people do on CCTV

Yeah if you think about it logically an MOT is done to prove your car is road safe and environmentally friendly. If you have a lock that doesn't work it's not gonna make you crash your car so really it shouldn't affect the MOT result. Good Luck anyways

As long as you can open the door from the inside and the outside you should be fine.

Why don't you just buy a 2nd hand door in the correct colour and fit your lock to it?

Only cost you £30

Well the door didn't pose a problem.

Failed on:

Nearside rear indicators incorrect colour. How? It's passed its previous 2 MOT's and nothings changed?

Excessive movement in upper attachment of the front offside macpherson strut.

Handbrake below requirements, which I expected anyway.

Could be worse I guess, at least its over with for another year

the light have you hcanged the color of it or is it standard ?? if its standard then it may be the bulb. my sisters car sure it was her old mk1 punto. the indicator bulbs were actually orange but its orange wich is painted onto he glass. sooo as it got old the orange burnt dried and peeled of the bulb. soo the light gradually got whiter untill it was not orange enough for mot. just needed new bulb

yep, had the indicator light thing before- was basically flashing white and the same design is also on the stilo so will probably do it again to me on this motor

Erm you do know that if its a fail you need to get another one done right?
