Im have an x reg Scudo 1900D. I have lost the main key. It is not a red key but has a small red square on the edge. I have the original fiat spare......

Is this a transponder type of key? Will I have any probs running it on the spare key just now?

Thanks

Greg

I don't know if your scudo & mins are the same but.........

Mine is a 2001/y (built OCT 2000) 2.0jtd
doesn't have a red key/never had a red key.
If yours has remote CL then the van would have been delivered with 1 remote key and 1 or 2 non plip keys
ALL these keys have transponders in them.
If you have a key cut to match at timpsons it will open the doors and you can turn over the engine but it will never fire, the ecu needs to 'read' the keyin the ignition and match it with one of the 5 key codes it has in its system code.
I have bought a new key from my fiat dealer £18 - then i need to get it cut.
Then i take it back and the dealer programs the ecu with the code that the transponder in the NEW key was constructed with.
Another £68 :bang:
I wish i had shares in FIAT :worship:
hope this helps

I have a 2006 Scudo and lost my spare key. After speaking to 3 Auto locksmiths and being quoted £140 from fiat for a new coded and cut key i went to Timpsons, they cut and coded a spare key for £30 and it works perfectly.

Stace.
