Thank you very much for all the good wishes.
We managed to make some new brackets out of mildsteel and pot rivet them to the bumber.
There was half a day of squeezing hands into tight spaces and bending brackets but the bumbper is now on more secure than before the crash. It is a little wonky but i think that just adds character. :D

Roll on the summer and I'll pop the wing out.

Thanks again all.

Just an FYI update.

This went to Solicitors I argued with them for about 2 months.

Turns out it costs about £600 to take a case to litigation (court fees and solicitor bill) most of which you can't claim back. As my bill was about a £1,000 (including the 'extras' my insurance put on) it was not echonomically viable for them to take my case. To be fair they gave me ample chance to feign a spinal injury but I didn't take it.

After chatting to the solicitor for about the hundredth time he leveled with me and said I could take it on my own but he had seen lots of these and without witnesses it would just be me and some bird calling each other liars infront of a judge and he/she would likely call it 50/50 to be on the safe side.

End result. NCD was protected so that ok but I have to buy again. Insurance down rated to 3rd party only. AWeekend spent fabricating bumber, Big dent in wing. A cheque for £225.

Lesson learnt. Always call the police at scene, always get a witness, never move the car (let that traffic build up), but mainly, don't have an accident.

Oh crud, thats not good. Really sorry to hear your news, its just up to luck with these cases. Agreed though, involving police is a must. There is no way of getting away with it then and if they do a runner before police arrive then they've admitted fault and you'll win by default.

At least its over now though, and hopefully won't be a black mark on your history.

Si
