OK, so I think I know what the cause is but just looking for some backup.

2004 (54) Old Shape 115 JTD

Runs lovely but onder hard acceleration there is a faint sound of rushing air from the engine bay (Louder with the window open).

My thoughts would be leak from a Turbo pipe somewhere, although there does not seem to be a loss of power to go with this that I would have expected.

Anyone else come across this, does a Torn Rubber pipe from the Turbo (Are they easy to access to check!). Sound logical or could it be something else I am missing

Cheers

Tear or maybe a dislodged air intake pipe? is it something that has just started or since you had the car.

No it was there when I purchased it, I have checked the pipe from the intake to the filter box that seems solid and intact,

I was thinking Turbo as it kicks in about 2500 RPM and I think thats about where the Turbo lifts the pressure, so hence my assumption that it would be a leak from a turbo pipe somewhere.

Dropping it off at the garage later in the week for an oil and filter change, so whilst its on a ramp will get them to investigate.

I am sure there will be areas that need spending on them as

1: Its a Fiat
2: Its a Multipla
3: Its reasonably high mileage!

But, it was Cheap and I really wanted an old shape Multipla again, not having had one since 2002, being a 54 Reg this was as late a model as I was going to find without losing the lovely bump!

Your description sounds very similar to mine (and 04 plate round nose JTD115). I can play tunes with the turbo whoosh on the throttle - it sounds like a very distant ambulance siren! I'm not sure if it's supposed to make that noise, but it runs very smoothly and there aren't any warning lights flashing at me, so I'll leave it be for now.

My Multi was cheap as well. I still can't believe the price difference between it and say a Touran or a C-Max (for example) of the same age. They are a bargain - just don't buy a new one!

My wifes C-Max with a 1.8 115bhp diesel is way, way quicker though. Not sure if it's the difference in age/mileage between them, or just that the quoted torque for the Ford unit is so much higher than the JTD. I've cleaned the MAF and the EGR.
