Just wondered if any one has had their JTD chipped, and how many miles it has done before and after?

Does chipping them lead to significantly more problems, and does it matter how many miles are on your engine when you get it done?

Cheers.

My JTD110 had a remap done at 85000 miles.
It's now done 120000 miles.
No engine problems so far, but I needed a new clutch soon after it was done. In fairness I knew the old clutch was on the way out, and due replacement at such a mileage, so not unexpected.
Since then the only problems with the car have been unrelated (suspension bushes, track rod end, etc).

my mate was running a jtd 110 with a chip, rang me up a couple of times with it cutting out/losing power, giving common rail errors/fuel pressure problems in the ecu, turns out it was the chip that was causing the aggro.

Cheers. I meant re-map rather than a new chip.

Mine has 106k miles on it, but the clutch is quite new.

Just wondering how many problems it's likely to cause, but there are a lot of things on the to-do list first!

From what I remember from years ago on the multiplaowners forum it was suggested by the tuners that engine life might be shortened but as the jtd has a life span of 300k that knocking 50k off that wouldn't be an issue to most cars as they wouldn't see that sort of mileage.
